Transgenders are real and have existed for a long time so I am not denying it.
But there is a group of people that got other kinds of problems. They have tried different stuff and then they hear about transgenders. They google it and read about the symptoms and they are dead sure that they are transgenders. They convince themself that once they get a sexchange, everything will be fine. Life will be perfect.
It doesnt.
This is the mentioned fad. The social network they built up during their road to transition gets crushed because they are being seen as traitors in the transgender community. We have even seen that here when Sayoria left the whole website when DarkRoast said that she no longer was a transman.
So it exist a problem, but people acts like we live in a black and white world where confessing that the problem even exists means that all transgenders are tricked into believing that they are something they are not.
I've read this 3 times and still can't parse what the problem is you're trying to describe
