Yes, that's exactly it. Sea fleas.

But in all seriousness, there is a remote chance of getting some other bogus bacteria on it depending on how unsealed/hot it got. I mean if they want to chance it then that's their call.
That's why I recommended IF they absolutely must, to try a very small portion first.

I once erroneously drank an old snapple that sat in the summer heat for about a week or two, previously opened. It was dark and then I realized it had a nice layer of mold on it when it touched my lip. "Uh oh..." Gave me stomach feels for a short period about 2 hours later, but that's it.

If the meat is spoiled then there's too many variables at play.
