Topic | self-checkout is proven actually slower than human checkout |
GeneralKenobi85 08/19/23 4:09:19 PM #165: | Even if it somehow isn't actually faster, you act like that matters a whole lot. The time difference surely is negligible, and using a self-checkout provides other conveniences that going down a regular checkout would. Using the grocery store I work at as an example, there are 18 self-checkouts and all 18 are almost always open. There is never any line except during the busiest times on the busiest days. The self-checkouts are also closer to the exit than the other registers. I know my store might be an anomaly regarding the sheer amount of self-checkouts there are, but even at places where the self-checkout experience is less smooth, I'd still likely take that over a standard register. Is it actually a few seconds slower? Maybe. But I don't have to interact with anyone and generally don't need to wait in any lines.
