I still don't understand how people saw white and gold, you can clearly see the background and determine the lighting is yellow shifting everything.

Even with that knowledge I can only look at that image and see (blueish) white and gold.
No matter how many times I see this picture, I know this dress is blue, but I still have to say that it looks white in that light.

To me, it doesn't look like that the lightning brightens everything up, it looks like as if the dress is getting shown too dark because it's in the "shadow" of the overly bright backlightning.

It's not the discussion about blue & black vs. white & gold that triggers me, it's the photo itself.
