Do you get kidney stones if you drink water? Not criticizing anyone's choices just want to know whether I have control over feeling life ruining pain in the future

I have a genetic predisposition towards them. My dad does too. Staying hydrated significantly lowers my chances of forming any that give me trouble though.

The first stone I got as a teenager left me unable to even cry out for help. I woke up in the middle of the night in a slight discomfort that quickly evolved into thinking that I was dying.

Then it suddenly stopped and I had to pee. When you thought your life was ending and then the bright red piss triggers in your head that it was probably a kidney stone, it's a fucking relief.
