We had Vin Scully and know a good broadcaster when we see one. On topic, L.A. had an issue like this way back with Chick Hearn. It was somehow decided that the network should employ the broadcaster, instead of the team employing the broadcaster. The broadcaster can then argue that they are a journalist and not a hype man if there's any disagreement with the team.
