I'd be curious what the bounds of that contract is, though. At the very least, Capcom nerfing Zero and other capcom characters shouldn't require Disney's approval. The real question would be could they buff weak Capcom characters as well without Disney being involved? Basically, if Capcom could potentially drop a huge buff/nerf patch that only touches Capcom characters and if Disney is unhappy with that then they can grant permission to do the same with their characters as well.

From what I understood, Disney by the time of Marvel vs Capcom Infinite were being really hardcore micro-managers to Capcom.
Not so much as for balance, but for a ton of things that made Capcom chaff under them, such as really dumb specifics like "how a characters hands should move during an idle stance" (Strange), or overriding certain character choices from the Marvel side OR the Capcom side, the overall choice in music, and that the Marvel characters should never look "bad" against any Capcom characters.

The constant nitpicks and bellyaching was pretty bad with Ultimate MvC3, but Infinite was at its zenith and with how that game turned out and was received, Capcom has been fairly hostile working directly with Disney after that.

Reportedly, Square-Enix had to endure the same nonsense when Kingdom Hearts 3 was made, but that game sells like insanity so I guess SE's better at putting up with it for the sake of making a 4th game.
