There are large swaths of the US with either minimal or zero population density that could be used to provide high speed rail between cities. Look at fucking Texas. It's got several densely populated cities but between them are just small towns and a bunch of rural land. It's been ripe for high speed rails connecting Dallas, Austin, Houston, and San Antonio, but it's been a pipe dream for the last 30 years because the douche nozzles in power keep preventing it from happening. i seriously cannot understand why people would be actively against efficient forms of transportation other than "muh taxes" ...
