Seems like tit-for-tat destuction of the few elements of structure in our government, elements that often play the role of tampening down governmental response to rapid shifts of policy due to elections and what not, might not have the desired goal.

Shit like this is said with the expectation that someone like Trump (or rather Trump himself) has no chance of gaining control again. I just don't see that being a possibility given voting patterns.

You're assuming the system isn't already busted beyond belief. Why let fascists take full advantage while you sit around pretending the system has working checks and balances? You're just paving the way for fascists to continue pushing and gaining power. Spoiler alert: they're going to bend or break rules regardless of whether you do as well.
