what I've done is order entry processing which uses those skills but is not in itself accounting. I'd recommend getting experience in that, then work on SF/Trailhead certifications. Especially if said order entry includes Salesforce like when I worked in it. that way you'll actually have experience using it before you study it.

ah, so it IS a Salesforce thing... shit. Like I said, I just cannot wrap my head around Salesforce, no matter how hard I try.

Sometimes I curse God for making me as stupid as I am. And by "sometimes" I mean "constantly".

Let's say you like shoes. You find a wholesaler who stocks shoes and ask them if they'll drop ship. If they say yes then you set up a website selling shoes. Customers order from your website and you send the details through to the wholesaler, who completes the order and sends the shoes to your customer.

Since you're purchasing from a wholesaler they do not sell to the public and you are like a retail shop, only since they'll do drop shipping you don't need to purchase or handle any stock.

Now let's say the wholesaler usually sells a pair of shoes to a retailer for $50. The retailer would sell those same shoes for $150. The wholesaler may sell those shoes to you, and drop ship them to your customers, for $110. If you sell them for $150 you'll make $40, all without having to deal with stock or shipping.

Of course you will need to find a wholesaler who is prepared to drop ship, and you'd want to find something that you already know about, or like enough to learn more about, so that you can engage with customer questions and what not.

And no, Amazon is not a wholesaler. They are an online retailer who sells for next to little margin themselves (not including affiliate retailers on Amazon), thus relying on the number of sales to be profitable.
Hmm, I think I understand it a bit better now. Thanks.

When I mentioned Amazon, I meant in more of a "why go through a middle man website when you can just order it directly?" kind of way but I guess it's a little bit more nuanced than that?

Idk, it still seems kind of pointless to me, but I guess if people are willing to pay for it... If there's a market for it, who am I to complain?
