It is irresponsible to take student loans at their current rates IF you do not believe that you have the ability/means to pay them back under the terms that you're intending to agree to. For me, I took a lot of student loans. I already gave my story. I lied to my school so I could work more hours. I missed out on a social life (for law school at least). I knew I would have to work my ass off to pay off the (approximately) $74,000 I paid off. I did it.
