I'm not very good at taking my own advice but I find what helps a little is think about something you find hard to do but do the easiest step to start. Like if you are lonely don't fall into the trap of thinking how can I possibly make friends, instead just find a small way to talk to a stranger. If you are in bad physical shape don't think about how hard it is to get fit, just take some small walks, etc. Eventually those things become part of the routine though and you gotta step it up. I think the routine aspect of life is what keeps a lot of us depressed
