So, in theory, its possible Pence sees himself as someone who can try to unite the crazed MAGA right with more "regular" people who really just want to stop hearing you whine about politics, due to his reputation as a regular politician, as well as history with Trump.

He knows it doesn't really matter that they threatened to hang him on Jan 6.

Or he can use that idea in order to scrounge as much money up as he possibly can, because he knows there's no real way he ever comes close to VP again, much less actual president.

But either way, Trump is going to end his political ambitions, because everyone stepping up to Trump can't keep up with his general charisma, even like a decade later when Trump is well over the hill.
