Jonathan Majors did a great job, yeah, but the movie itself was definitely poorly structured. One of the MCU movies that feels like it was just pumped out by a machine rather than by real writers.

The comparison with Thanos is a good one, because I feel like the reality of why he comes off more threatening is obvious: we actually see Thanos do stuff. In his first scene, he kills two main characters, bodies a third, and leaves a fourth to die. Meanwhile, Kang is just alluded to for half his film and most of his feats are only informed or implied. The characters tell us to fear him, while Thanos demonstrated to us why we should fear him. Same with the High Evolutionary, and why he's a better
written villain than Kang as well.

I honestly don't know how they messed up Kang's true introduction how they did.

You're right about it being so obvious that I never really put much thought into it lol. But yeah we actually get to see Thanos being a threat while Kang was just all hype no action. If anything, I wouldn't mind High Evolutionary to be the real big bad than Kang at this point lol. They both have similar powers as well.
