Regardless of how you(admittedly justifiably) feel about Kotaku, this is a big corp abusing their powers to censor a smaller group. No. Look, I'm a journalist. This is not censorship. They aren't preventing Kotaku from writing about Nintendo or Nintendo products. This is a private company choosing not to talk to or grant special privileges to a publication, and it happens literally all the time in our industry. You know what a journalist does in that case? They write "Nintendo representatives declined to comment" and they move on. There are prominent companies around town that I can pretty much pre-write that in a story because I know they're not calling me back, it's part of the job. So they don't get a day 1 review, that's going to suck for traffic. Hopefully it's a learning lesson to their entire staff on how to not needlessly upset your sources as well as piss-poor editorial choices. --- *runs out of topic naked* ... Copied to Clipboard! |
