i couldn't agree more -- you'd hope and expect a teacher to be able to solve a problem like that without relying on being physical in any way with anyone. they should have the means. and by that, i mean the structure should have answers for them. i think the opposite - even tacitly encouraging this as a resolution - puts teachers in the way of harm and students in the way of abuse.

In the Reddit thread it says that teachers can lose their jobs if they fail too many students. Also, this teacher has been punched before for doing the same thing? These are just the top comments, and I expect to learn more as I go.

I feel so badly for teachers. Teachers should be the one protesting and going on strike for more money
