Could've been a case of them not knowing how to reveal that they were trans, so the passed it off like it was no big deal and you were OK with it.

I'd like to give to the benefit of the doubt here, but putting "Chick" in quotation marks isn't a good look my man if you're trying to play the innocent victim here.
