Mostly due to how you are affected in the womb. Diets can change based off climate, along with your mother's activity levels. Even temperature can affect growth.

Nowadays the differences would be much subtler. But if we're going back to the ages without technology, the seasons and environment could have had a substantial affect on one's growth.

Today the only noticeable differences in seasons that could possibly affect brain development would be if your mother ate a significant amount of an "in-season" fruit/vegetable. Or maybe your mother was more active in the summer if she was an active person to begin with. Very small subtle factors that may not even have any noticeable effect given how much we've improved as a society in terms of keeping a status quo.
