Movie watchmen version of the attack was much better and actually made sense.

The graphic novel version had to introduce like six layers of unrealistic bullshit out of fucking nowhere. The suspension of disbelief was absolutely obliterated, compared to other unbelievable things like Doctor Manhattan where only one or two layers of bullshit had to be accepted.

Let's make a list of bizarre things we're told in the exposition dump about the squid:

1.) Psychics exist

2.) Cloning genetically modified psychic brains is a thing

3.) When a psychic dies, its brain unleashes a wave of death-inducing energy

4.) Movie prop people and random geneticists can make a fake squid that's so incredibly real that not even scientific analysis can discover that it originated on earth

5.) Ozymandias can teleport giant squid things

6.) When a teleported object intersects with an existing object, it dies violently

7.) Nobody working on this project had any fucking idea what the project actually was
