Manderville quests are just comedic misadventures that involve Hildibrand Manderville. They're mainly written to feel like Saturday morning cartoons with their episodic nature and goofy antics. They've been going on since ARR and mostly just serve as a breather activity in between all the seriousness of the MSQ.

But the style of comedy isn't for everyone. And there's quite a few people who were upset they're being forced to go through them all just to access the Manderville weapons in Endwalker. I've been going through them since ARR and was already caught up cuz I more or less love them, but I'm sympathetic to those people who feel otherwise.
