Seriously, people acting like a cuisine with a couple hundred years of history isn't authentic to a region are absolutely ignorant to Mexican food. Not only that, but Mexican food as it known today was literally born out of the clashing of European and indiginous cultures. Tex-mex cuisine also came from a culture clash of Mexican and American settlers and evolved into its own thing, that's about as authentic as it gets for Mexican food.

Consider the history and culture of the food before you claim whether or not it's "authentic." There's really a certain irony in people proclaiming al pastor, which came from Lebanese immigrants to Mexico, as authentic while telling everyone that tex-mex isn't real Mexican food despite by and large being developed by Mexican people living in Texas.

So, basically, you are saying that just because Texans slather hot dog chili and nacho cheese on Mexican food makes it authentic?
