Some still die, long Covid is a thing. There are various studies pointing to possible really bad stuff for getting Covid and every infection will make it worse. There's still a lot we don't know. But it's not benign. People wouldn't wear them anyways. Plastered all around the hospital grounds at my hospital are no smoking signs, and clearly you can see cigarette butts, not to mention people smoking without a care and security doing nothing about it.
