When the cat come to sit on her lap then all of a sudden my wife's needs and plans are secondary and the cat takes precedent. If she wants to get up then she has to negotiate with the cat to get off her lap before she can move. Whereas when the cat sits on my lap the cat is only there for my pleasure.
