It was the first piece of media I experienced where I legitimately cared about what happens to the characters But even as an adult: It has incredible music A heart felt story Amazing characters with actual depth and character arcs Doesn't treat the player like an idiot Despite being a colorful kids game it has a death count that rivals Warhammer 40k It has more soul and heart than any other game I've played since. Even games with much better gameplay or less faults just don't amount to the same "Greater than the sum of their parts" that FFIX does.
