It's always such an unforced error when people double-down like this. It could've been very easy to initially respond with "I was just trying to come up with an example on the spot of when our side can be overzealous, but I chose a very poor example and I understand that", and even link to her past argument against Hawley to back that up. Sure some people will still side-eye you but frankly they have a right to and you'll still come out of it with most people accepting your mistake.

... Instead they decided to outwardly burn all their bridges with double/triple/quadruple-downs and they look like liars knowingly redpilling themselves to escape criticism.

A real lesson that's been shown time and time again that the double-down route always leads here.
