Pretty useless IMO A handful of extra minor differences, 4 has different side-character stories you play through depending on the version, and 3 has one swappable boss. other than that Meagan gets "Double Souls" or "Crosses" with the various "friends" he makes along the game which vary between version. IIRC in 3 it was required to trade with the other version to get all the chips, but in none of the later games. Definitely a pretty minor change.
