Which context? You mean the context where ultimately killing Palpatine and destroying the Sith was one of the cornerstones of anakin/vader's entire arc, and having Palpatine survive/return completely undermines it?

The context where the narrative crux behind the sequel trilogy's big bad is touched on so little in the actual movies that they've now needed multiple seasons of multiple television shows to explain it away?

The fact that the line and it's delivery are so lame and hamfisted that it deserves all the mocking it gets from a scriptwriting perspective alone?

There's plenty of contextually pertinent reasons to make fun of it.

And it's not even all Disney's fault. It was lame in the EU comics when they did the same thing, too. Twice.
