The key to claw trimming is to gently play with their paws when you are playing/chilling out. You get them used to having their paws touched. That way they don't have reservations for when handle their paws for trimming. Basically if the only time you are touching their paws is to trim them they'll be wary about the entire process.

Also you have to do it when they are in the right mood. If they are particularly active or playful it's not gonna work because they won't want to be still or held. You gotta get them when they are sleepy or lounging.
