The extra money isn't that much, it's around 1250 midgame and 3000 lategame. You get way more from doing auxillary battles, especially the bonus exclamation ones that the updates/DLC give which give like 12,000 (btw you are breaking Demonic Beast armor right? You should always do that every time. non-buyable ores are the rarest resource in the game.) I find Sauna more useful since the equivalent of making up for Sauna is broken weapon grinding which is really annoying.
Although, in a non-auxilarry battle run I can see Tournaments being more useful since Sauna doesn't increase that much.
