I actually doubt that a lot more than I did, say, 6 months ago.

First off I don't think DeSantis can beat Trump in a GOP primary. But even if we grant that he does for the hypothetical he's been giving off big Scott Walker vibes to me lately as a "on paper this guy looks like a nightmare to run against it" but in practice comes off as so weird and bad at campaigning that I think it just collapses before it really begins.

Of course, it's the US electorate. Gas prices could go up like 20 cents in October 2024 and then democracy ends. But that's the case regardless of opponent.
