There was a similar case in the Swedish mountains in the... I think it was the 70s, that had a survivor.
Basically they got caught by bad weather, they got so cold so they felt like they were overheating and started to undress, they tried to build protection against the wind, they didnt feel their skin ripping and it was blood everywhere.

The logical solution is that they got caught by bad weather, they were so cold so they started to undress and decided to go back trying to find protection against the wind.
Then they died in the cold.
The crushed skulls and bones?
The dead bodies were covered by deep snow when they were found, and the rescue units found them by sticking long poles into the snow, moving them up and down. If they hit a skull... it would clearly be crushed.
