Eh, I think a lot of it is confirmation bias because people hated the announcement of Pratt as Mario before they ever heard him say a single line, too. I think he's been fine, but people want him to sound like Charles Martinet and that was never going to happen.

There might be some confirmation bias, but I think you're really underselling people just straight-up not liking the voice. Maybe it ends up fine in the actual movie, but every example they've put out has not been questionable at best. It doesn't have to be Charles Martinet, but it still has to be good. And it's not.
