Oh yeah you used to make the new release lists on TWSS. How long ago did you stop?

To add to your point, when we were younger during the 8/16/32 bit console generations, there were maybe 50 games released in an entire year across the major platforms. Things have just ramped up as time goes on and there's no way to make time to play all the worthwhile games.

I'd also say price point is a big thing. These crazy sales we see these days are relatively new. I first noticed it ~2011 with Portal 2. A few weeks after the game released, it went on sale for $30. That blew my mind. It used to take years for a game to have any sort of significant sale. These days if you wait 6 months, you can probably get it for 40% off. Now with the pricing during Steam and PSN sales, you can stock up on tons of games for cheap.
