On Odin Project: depends on if you're adverse to/disinterested in stuff like introductory JavaScript, VSCode, and navigating a Linux shell/terminal. In my case it made sense for me because I have an interest in full-stack development, even if from a Java apps angle. Also got me into the groove on using GitHub properly. I doubt I'll do the more advanced paths anytime soon (they have two: Ruby on Rails and JS), but they're plenty interesting. I just have more urgent priorities atm.

I noticed a lot of people are 'bleh' on Udemy but I learned one fuck of a lot from it (and have always been patient about waiting for sales--of which, they have many). Even if it can slow things down, I ultimately learn way more from video courses than I do from textbooks and courses that are mostly articles--doesn't matter how many times people told me to just pound through a bunch of books.

Took a lengthy video course awhile back from a no-nonsense PhD and put myself to work. Guy was supposed to be teaching programming without any pre-reqs, yet I ended up picking up on all sorts of high-level crap because he couldn't help but go there. It was amazing what I got out of it. Learned more than I did in all of the Java courses I had in college combined. Easily.
