The price for it at launch isn't the problem.....actually getting a pre-order for it was. Fire emblem was (and still is) riding on a huge hype wave coming off of awakening. That fire emblem fates special edition pre-order period did not last longer than like 30 seconds.

I managed to get in a pre-order at my local gamestop but it was one of those things where I just happened to be sitting at my PC when the pre-orders went live and so I hurried to do one of those pick-up in store pre-orders through gamestop's online store. Vast majority of other people weren't so lucky.

When it comes to the shut-down in general, just going to slap CFW on it at some point. Its extremely easy/basically just plug and everything is automatically taken care of nowadays.

For pokemon fans just make sure you get pokemon home and pay the 4.99 fee for a subscription. When the store ends that pokemon home sub will never end. Also download the pokemon transporter off of pokemon home. (The transporter is a actual seperate app, but this app can only be downloaded when you boot up pokemon home, and you have to have a subscription going to even see the option to download it. You need this stuff if you ever wanted to xfer pokemon off the 3DS pokemon games (the transporter is for getting pokemon off the DS pokemon games. Black, white, black 2, white 2) and the virtual console gameboy games to newer pokemon games on the switch).
