My childhood home wasn't as bad as, say the projects, but there were still gang shootings, robberies, etc. I've been banged on, I've been pocket checked (aka mugged), I've had neighbors get shot because they got mistaken for a rival gang member... And that wasn't even the worst area. Thankfully we left that area when I was in high school.
