What about him?

Her.

This is specifically an update of the 1987 series version -- the only version in which Leatherhead was a villain -- and they've made her a comedic relief character from the looks of things. Like, why was that necessary? Am I suppose to jump for joy at the sight of the Crocodile Dundee hat? This isn't the character that I grew up with. This isn't the toy that I spent my allowance money on and later purchased a second time after the first one broke because Leatherhead was one of my favorite characters and I needed to have a toy of him.

This is like if you combined the alligator and the lightning bug from The Princess and the Frog into one character and made them female. How is that nostalgic? I'm cool with a female Leatherhead, but she should be the Leatherhead from the comics if they're going to do that. They shouldn't go gender-bending a specific version from a specific cartoon spinoff.

This would be like the equivalent of a Batman cartoon having the creepy Danny DeVito version of the Penguin, but they make her a woman played by Melissa McCarthy and the character is played for laughs. What sense does that make? Just have an original character at that point.
