I'm not saying this will work for you, just what happened for me. I had my first (and hopefully only) kidney stones 2 years ago. So I had to make changes to my diet. So I started out with one simple rule: I'll eat whatever I want, but I have to keep track of the sodium intake total for the day, never letting it go over 100%.

Obviously, walking/running helps. I walked/ran on a treadmill one or twice a week. Don't pay too much attention to the numbers though. You'll lose motivation if you keep trying to outdo what you did last time, especially when you don't meet those numbers. You aren't trying to be a pro athlete, you are just trying to lose some weight. Plus, you will gain some weight back as you exercise more and more due to muscle gain. So your weight will fluctuate anyway. Just do as much exercise as you feel you can do, then 5 more minutes. The most important part is to keep to a regular pattern of doing it.

I was around 220 when I first started with these things in mind. The lowest I got to was around 165, but I seem to constantly average 180 now.
