You should create a plan and schedule for everything you want to accomplish and an end goal for achieving it with smaller easier goals along the way. For instance, if you want to lose 50 lbs in a year, set it up where you're aiming to lose around 4-5 pounds per month.

Figure out what type of meals you should be focusing on, create a daily schedule for your workout routine and stick to it. Starting out it's perfectly fine to just do a 15-20 minute walk a few times a week, but gradually increase each week.

If you want to do strength training too, start with light weights like 10 lbs dumbells. Even if the weight is too light, it's still fine because you're just trying to focus on the routine before you start adding weight.
