There is also The Missing Pieces, a 2014 film made from the deleted scenes of FWwM (yes there are 90 minutes of deleted scenes) that is canon too though you can skip that. While it is good and provides some context youll get The Return without it. As for the reception of FWwM it got slammed when it came out but has since been reevaluated.
