There again, the biggest reason that stereotype exists is because it's far easier to dismiss someone if you characterize them as "blindly picking the middle ground on everything" than if you have to actually accept that no, people don't always either agree on everything or disagree on everything. It's the simple fact of people feel the need to assign everyone a label.
