6 top ten hits in the span of 14 years across eight albums is pathetic, especially when he had 7 top ten hits in the span of only 4 years across two albums before. His career sharply declined as a result of what he did.

Meanwhile Rihanna went on to have 17 top ten hits across just four albums in the 14 years since the scandal. Had Chris Brown not beat the shit out of her, his career could have been just as big as hers.
do we need to go through all the artists who had multiple hits in the 2000s and went on to have zero hits in the 2010s for you to see that a pop star fading isnt unusual in the slightest

His career followed an extremely normal trajectory and in fact he remains doing much better than the vast majority of pop stars of all time
