They had to mention that the world was fucked up after the war. After the wars end, the light gradually faded from the four Crystals. Now bereft of their beacons of hope, the civilizations of Orience descended into an age of darkness and destruction. Plus Machina died at 67-years-old which seems kinda young lol. Weird, I dont remember this at all.
