The really shitty part is when the mental illness supersedes my motivation to do anything other than wallow. So then the inner critic wins and the vicious cycle simply self-perpetuates. epik_fail1 posted... i also hate the sound of electricity when i am alone if the tv or some video games or even a fan are not open. but i think it's just me being weird for that one I don't think this is as uncommon as you're implying. I use Chromecast to blast a greenhouse fan (those 10 hour ones) from YouTube into my room to shield myself from autistic sensory overload, and even my neurotypical brother claims that he's come to like hearing Chromecast reverberating throughout the walls of this trailer. Plenty of other people that I've encountered also like white noise, autistic or not.
