People reeeaaalllyy overrate how important exp management is in Fire Emblem, it basically only matters if you're LTCing, you're never going to suffer because you used Vander to kill stuff. Ignoring him is just making the early game a bit less smooth in exchange for not affecting the rest of the game in any way.
