I mean I played the first 3, first one I spent a few hundred hours on completing everything including Prinny Baal. After that 2 and 3 just felt like the same game and I only completed 2's main story and maybe only played 10 hours or so of 3 before stopping.

If later games do a lot more than I could be interested in checking them out but this trailer doesn't really do anything to stand out

Generally the biggest additions are quality of life improvements. So like... in 4 they added the ability that you don't have to undo a move to move somewhere else - you can move freely within the range from your starting point until you act. It makes stacking units for an AOE buff far less of a chore.

Similarly, they added a "cheat shop" where you can do things like adjust enemy difficulty between stages without having to pass a bill, another QoL improvement. They also added the ability for monsters to be equipped as weapons which unlocks new special moves and both the monster and the character get the XP for a kill which is nice for grinding. They also added tower attacks at some point, or at least added unlockable special moves for them depending on the tower size.

You're not wrong that the fundamental structure of the game hasn't changed much, but that'd sort of be like wondering why Street Fighter 6 is still a 1v1 fighter with special moves and an arcade mode where you fight through a bunch of enemies and then a boss.
