Just by doing that, they imply that the world has gone degenerate and that their enemies are defending the crazy thing or allowing it to happen. Therefore, they get to align associated groups and look like the defenders of order and common sense. Even better is the fact they get to distract from real issues, like discrimination against LGBT students, racial and economic inequality in schools, abuse in schools, and the failure of our students to learn good.
