Yeah, I watched a couple of episodes and it was really subpar. At least with the Harley Quinn show, the parodies still resemble the characters.

It feels like they had a season of a show written that was unrelated to Scooby-Doo, and just retooled them to sort of resemble the cast for higher recognition.

The thing with Harley Quinn is that the show really doesn't 'change' the characters in a drastic way. They're still the characters we recognize, they've just been exaggerated and given jokes. The fact that they are so similar in so many ways to the classic characters is what makes the show fun.

It pokes fun at them and plays around with them without sacrificing what makes them interesting and iconic in the first place. You look at the cast of Harley Quinn in this scene:

You immediately recognize every character in the scene, you can identify their iconic traits, and the jokes are actually funny because they're based on the characters.

The tragedy is, this Velma show could have worked if it wasn't so drastically different in every way from the cast we know-- and if the jokes were actually funny, it would help.
