This is underselling how bad it is. The royalty fee is 25% of GROSS sales, IE sales before expenses are pulled out of them. If you're wondering, producing actual physical books has one of the highest costs to produce to sales ratio of pretty much anything. Some products do not even see 25% of their gross turn into profit, meaning the people developing stuff like that would literally be losing money because they'd be paying so much in royalties
