Topic	Lord of the Rings could have been completely avoided if Elrond.... SPOILERS

Or could he someday rebuild his strength again? If I remember right, he's still technically "alive", but just as a spirit that has absolutely no power and will never be able get any again. I guess he's just forced to wander the world forever until it's ended. His former master Melkor/Morgoth was forced through the doors of night and is imprisoned in oblivion. That's the closest thing to a hell in the Tolkien universe.
